Director's Welcome Message

The calculation is as follows for any given match:

1. add your rating (to 3 decimal points) to your partners as of that date (that is why it is important to enter matches with the correct match date)

2. add the ratings of your 2 opponents

3. if your rating is higher than your opponents, then there is a formula based on how much higher your rating is than your opponents that is calculated. The result of the calculation is a number of games.

4. This is the number of games that you must beat the opponents by in order for your rating to go up. (For example it might be a range of 3-6 games)

5. So therefore, if you were to beat your opponents by 6 games, there would be no change in anyone's rating.

6. If you were to beat your opponents by 7 games, then you and your partner's ratings would go up.

7. If you only beat your opponents by 2 games (7-6, 7-6) then your opponents ratings would go up and yours would go down.

8. The court that you play on (1-4) does not enter into the calculation

If you would like to see a match history of your matches, please check the front page of the web site and request one.

Player Match History Note:
The points column
1 means that your rating went down - did not beat the expected spread
2 means that your rating stayed the same
3 means that your rating went up - beat the expected spread
